Seed Production Quality Assurance & Processes

Comprehensive internal quality control protocols from spatial isolation mapping to physiological seed conditioning, ensuring verified germination, purity, and phytosanitary compliance.

Precision Quality Management at Every Phase

High seed quality is built in the field through agronomic discipline—it cannot be mechanically inserted after harvest. At Fertile Seed Tech, our quality assurance protocols operate continuously across the entire crop lifecycle.

We maintain a clear distinction between our rigorous internal quality evaluations and mandatory third-party accredited testing (such as state seed testing laboratories and national quarantine authorities). Every seed lot released to clients is backed by verified testing documentation.

1. Field Plot Selection & Spatial Isolation Audits

Prior to transplanting, our field inspectors audit prospective grower plots using GPS mapping. We survey a 1,000-meter radius around the target plot to verify absence of compatible wild species, home garden plantings, or commercial vegetable fields of the same genus.

2. 3-Stage Morphological Roguing

Roguing is conducted at three mandatory growth stages: vegetative pre-anthesis, flowering/crossing, and early fruit set. Any plant that diverges from authentic parental descriptors is immediately uprooted, removed from the vicinity, and recorded in the field log.

3. Moisture Management & Low-Temp Seed Drying

Seed viability degrades rapidly when exposed to high temperatures during drying. Extracted seeds are spread in single layers on clean drying racks under shaded, ventilated conditions or dried using dehumidified air (temperatures strictly capped below 35°C) until moisture content stabilizes between 6.0% and 8.0%.

4. Internal Laboratory Testing

Representative samples from each conditioned lot undergo internal quality testing aligned with standard seed testing guidelines:

  • Physical Purity Analysis: Separation of pure seeds from broken fragments, inert matter, and other crop seeds. Minimum purity standard: 98.0% - 99.0%.
  • Standard Germination Test: Performed on certified blotters or paper substrates inside climate-controlled germinators at crop-specific temperature regimes.
  • Moisture Calibration: Evaluated using calibrated electronic moisture meters (IS 4333 standard).
  • 1,000-Seed Weight (TSW): Documenting seed density and embryo development uniformity.

5. Export Certification & Phytosanitary Coordination

For international shipments, we coordinate sampling with government plant quarantine inspectors to secure official Phytosanitary Certificates verifying that the seed consignment is free from quarantined viruses, viroids, bacteria, fungi, and weed seeds per the importing nation's statutory permit.

Standards Overview

Quality Benchmark Commitments

  • Physical Purity: 98.0% – 99.0% Min
  • Seed Moisture: 6.0% – 8.0% Max
  • Standard Germination: 85% – 90%+ Min
  • Genetic Purity (GOT): 98.5% – 99.0%+
  • Lot Traceability: 100% Unique ID

We clearly differentiate between internal quality checks and third-party accredited laboratory testing based on customer import requirements.
